prehospital/emergency medical care for all individuals who live, work,
travel, and shop in Shaler Township. To provide for the safe
non-emergency transportation of the elderly and chronically ill to
medical facilities. To establish, promote, and conduct educational
programs that enhance public health and well
being.”

Shaler EMS was incorporated in 1992 as a non-profit
501c3 charitable organization. We are governed by a Board of Directors
consisting of four voting members including our medical director and
one ex-officio member who is the Chief of Police of Shaler
Township.
Shaler EMS has 9 full time employees, including 4
Paramedics, 3 Emergency Medical Technicians, 1 Manager, and 1 Outreach
Coordinator. Shaler EMS also relies on professional volunteers
to staff its ambulances. Volunteers are one of Shaler EMS’ most
valuable assets. There are over 20 volunteers, who contribute an
average of 10,000 volunteer hours a year. Using both paid staff and
volunteers, Shaler EMS operates three ALS (Advanced Life Support)
ambulances.
